Sideways pages are the classic side effect of a document feeder or a phone scan: the text is perfectly fine, it just arrives at ninety degrees. Rotate PDF turns whole documents or only the pages you name in 90 degree steps and saves the orientation into the file itself, so it opens correctly for everyone - not just in your own reader.
How to rotate PDF pages
- 1Add the PDF with the misaligned pages.
- 2Pick the rotation - 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° counter-clockwise - and list the pages, or leave the field empty for all of them.
- 3Run the tool and download the corrected document.
When to rotate and what to expect
Rotation is worth doing before you archive or share a scan, because a reader's temporary 'rotate view' setting is not saved into the file: the next person still sees it sideways, and printers will happily print it that way. Typical cases are a landscape spreadsheet appended to a portrait report, receipts photographed in the wrong orientation, or a batch scan where only the even pages came out upside down - which is why you can restrict rotation to a page list instead of the whole file.
The tool only changes each page's rotation attribute, so nothing is re-rendered: text remains selectable and searchable, images keep their exact resolution, and the file size is virtually identical to the original. Rotation is cumulative on top of whatever the page already had, so if some pages are already correct, rotate only the ones that are not. Note that the visible page shape swaps between portrait and landscape when you turn a page by 90 or 270 degrees; combined with mixed originals this can make a document that alternates orientation, which is normal and prints correctly. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the source file stays as it is.
Frequently asked about Rotate PDF
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Type the page numbers or ranges you want to turn, such as 2, 4-6. Leave the field empty to rotate every page in the document.
Will the rotation stick when someone else opens the file?
Yes. The angle is written into the PDF itself, unlike the temporary rotate-view button in a reader, so every viewer and printer sees the corrected orientation.
Does rotating reduce image quality or grow the file?
No. Only the page's rotation property changes; content is untouched, so quality is identical and the size barely moves.
How do I turn a page upside down?
Choose 180°. For counter-clockwise quarter turns use the 270° option, which is the same as 90° to the left.
Can I rotate different pages by different amounts?
Run the tool once per angle: rotate one set of pages, download the result, then feed it back in and rotate the next set.
Is text still searchable afterwards?
Yes. Because pages are not re-rendered, the existing text layer stays intact and fully searchable.
